Directing

 

Simon has directed plays by Sharman MacDonald and Willy Russell, musicals such as My Fair Lady, The Pyjama Game and Carmen Jones and several operas. In 1995 he directed the stage version of the classic French film Les Enfants du Paradis for the Royal Shakespeare Company. On stage, he has also directed Maggie Smith (in Cocteau’s The Infernal Machine), Pauline Collins (in the West End premiere of Shirley Valentine) and Jerome Flynn (as Tommy Cooper in Jus’ Like That!).
